The civic body has set a target of 100% garbage segregation in the twin cities by 2020.
The focus would be on complete garbage management — collection, transportation, processing and disposal — along with efforts to stop open defecation and promote education, behavioural changes, capacity building and innovative projects. At the moment, the city segregates just 30% of its garbage. The civic officials had earlier said that if households could segregate wet, dry and hazardous garbage, it would be easier for the municipal corporation to transport the waste to the processing units and then to the Moshi garbage depot.
